Frequently Asked Questions
What is WorkFamily Solutions?
At WorkFamily Solutions, we help employers assure their employees of a childcare place. This makes it easier for employees to combine their work and personal lives and helps employers attract and retain good professionals with children within their organization.
WorkFamily Solutions is an initiative of Kindergarden (a large childcare organization with over 70 locations in the Netherlands) and Bright Horizons (which offers “Work & Family” solutions to support over 10,000 companies across the world). If you’d like to know more about WorkFamily Solutions, you can read who we are and how it works on our website.
How does guaranteed childcare work via WorkFamily Solutions?
You reserve a certain number of childcare places per year. Your employees can use these places for their children. They can register for a childcare place themselves via our Homebase digital platform, where they can also request a coaching or expert session.
How does flexible childcare work via WorkFamily Solutions?
You reserve flexible childcare places for your employees. This means they can always take their child to a Kindergarden location, even if their work schedules change. Parents are then not tied to fixed days and can align the childcare to their work schedules.
What added value does childcare via the employer have for my employees?
Many parents cannot access childcare for their child immediately. The childcare location may have a waiting list, their preferred days may be already full, or they can only find a place at a location far from home. Our guaranteed childcare enables you to assure your employees of a place at a childcare location in the neighborhood. This means they no longer need to stress about childcare, are less likely to miss work appointments, and have the reassurance that their child is well cared for.
How do parents use a guaranteed childcare place?
As soon as your organization works with WorkFamily Solutions, your company will be able to access the Homebase platform. Parents can use the platform to complete a registration form and request a childcare place themselves. The employer consults with WorkFamily Solutions to determine which employees are eligible for the places and at which locations the places are to be reserved.
The following happens after the initial request:
- We check the request.
- Kindergarden will contact the parent within two working days. Kindergarden will make an offer that matches the parent’s requirements.
- If the parent is in agreement, the childcare place will then be available from the agreed start date.
- Kindergarden will send a contract and once this has been signed, the child is welcome at the childcare location.
If we use this service, does this mean extra work for our HR department?
The extra workload for your HR department is minimal. Employees who want to use our childcare will be given access to our Homebase platform, where they can manage their days and preferences themselves. They communicate directly with Kindergarden, which means that there is little to no extra work for your HR professionals.
Which childcare locations can parents use?
Kindergarden has 70 locations throughout the country, for example in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Weesp, Eindhoven, Zeist, and Delft. Your working parents can use these locations. Check out the Kindergarden website to view our locations.
Does WorkFamily Solutions also offer in-house childcare at organizations?
We can always investigate the options for this together with your organization. You should, however, be aware that our childcare must always meet strict municipal health service (GGD) regulations and high standards, which is why not every organization is suitable for in-house childcare. Where this type of childcare isn’t feasible, we can always try to find alternative solutions together with your organization. So, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to know more about this.
How much does guaranteed childcare at WorkFamily Solutions cost?
We always send a customized quotation, in which we consider such things as the number of childcare places you are purchasing. You can request a cost estimate for your organization here.
Are parents entitled to childcare allowance?
Certainly! If parents use childcare via WorkFamily Solutions, they retain their entitlement to childcare allowance.
How many childcare places can I reserve?
You determine yourself how many childcare places you want to arrange for your employees. We’d be happy to help you decide how many places would be appropriate for your organization.
Is one childcare place intended for one child?
No. You can use one childcare place for several children. A single childcare amounts to five days per week. For example, you could use this place for one child on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and for another child on Thursdays and Fridays.
What types of organizations suit WorkFamily Solutions?
Our guaranteed WorkFamily Solutions childcare is suitable for all kinds of companies and organizations. From large to small. We can support small organizations with ten employees or, for example, large offices or hospitals. Our services are suitable for financial organizations, non-profit institutions, healthcare organizations, municipalities, corporations, and small commercial companies. We can align our package to your organization’s specific requirements and size. Flexible childcare is particularly suitable for organizations in which employees’ work schedules change.
What if there is no Kindergarden location near our company?
We have locations in many areas across the country. If this doesn’t apply to your company, please do contact us. We can always work together to find a suitable solution.
Is there a waiting list for organizations to use guaranteed childcare?
In principle, there’s no waiting list. At the start of the partnership, we always produce a schedule together, with the goal being to ensure that your employees can use our services as quickly as possible.
What is the lead time before the partnership officially starts?
You should take into account a lead time of four to five months from the date of signing the contract until the first child attends the childcare location. As soon as you have given your approval to our proposal, we immediately reserve the childcare places for your company. The HR department can then approach working parents to inform them of this offer.
